What Are Riftbound Signature Cards?

A Signature card is Riftbound’s rarest treatment: a Showcase card with an asterisk in its collector number, like OGN-299*/298. That asterisk is the giveaway. If you’re staring at a card and trying to work out what you have, check the number first, everything else follows from there.

Riftbound cards are printed in multiple languages. Chinese-language Signature cards carry identical collector numbers to English versions and are the same cards in a different language print run, they are not a separate card category. Chinese-language copies circulate on eBay and Cardmarket rather than TCGPlayer. All prices in this guide reflect English-language copies only.

Every Signature card is foil-only, with a distinct foiling treatment applied on top of the card art.

How a Signature differs from an Overnumbered card: an Overnumbered card has a collector number higher than the set’s total (for example OGN-299/298) but no asterisk. The Signature is the same artwork with the foiling treatment added on top. Same picture, different finish, different price bracket.

How a Signature differs from an SP card: SP cards, which started appearing in Vendetta, use artwork sourced from outside Riftbound entirely (the Crystal Rose collaboration cards, for example). SP cards do not have Signature versions. They’re a separate category running alongside Signatures, not underneath them.

Are Signature Cards Worth Buying?

Here’s the honest answer, not the hype answer. The Signature market as a whole is rising: of 36 Signatures with usable 30-day price data, 30 climbed more than 2% and only 4 dropped more than 2%. That’s a broadly healthy collector market, not a bubble.

But rising prices aren’t the same as guaranteed returns, and competitive performance is doing a lot of the work. Diana’s 56.5% jump followed real Regional Qualifier wins, not random hype. If a champion’s Signature looks cheap relative to the rest of this list, it might just mean that champion hasn’t had a breakout tournament moment yet, for better or worse.

What Signatures are not is a requirement. No competitive deck needs one to function, so if you’re buying, you’re buying as a collector, not because tournament players will outbid you for playable copies. Treat these as collector items you want to own, not as an investment vehicle you’re counting on.
